Pre Primary CompreGRAM - English (Ages 4-6)
An English literacy programme that focuses on nurturing confident readers and writers. It is aimed at developing children’s reading and writing abilities through a wide range of literacy activities, empowering them to be independent readers and writers. They will be exposed to age-appropriate books and group activities which are focused at strengthening their language abilities, building a strong foundation in English before their Primary educational journey.
A short assessment with the student is required before grouping him/her in a suitable class.
Elementary :
- Develop phonemic awareness and oral communication skills
- Understand relationship between written letters and spoken sounds
- Blending sounds to read CVC words
- Introduce digraphs and blends
- Sight/High-frequency word recognition (Level 1)
- Read and write simple words and sentences
- Introduce reading/spelling/writing strategies
Intermediate :
- Exposure to different text types (fiction/non-fiction)
- Reinforce various reading/spelling/writing strategies
- Sight/High-frequency word recognition (Level 2)
- Read and comprehend short stories
- Reinforce writing conventions/grammar and mechanics
- Write complex sentences and short stories
- Building vocabulary
- Book-making
- Stimulus-based Conversations
- Presentation Skills
